Our Church
Elm City Methodist Church celebrates its 150th year as a Global Methodist Church! It is a warm, hospitable group of people from different walks of life, focused on spiritual growth and serving. Our vision is to be a dynamic, spiritually active church offering a friendly, Christian environment to our community and seeking God's will for our lives. From young to old, at different points in our lives and faith walks, God calls us all on a journey of salvation and service as we live in God's love, mercy, and grace. We invite you to come be a part of this experience with us. Come as you are, and together we will know God's goodness and steadfast love as we draw closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship and mission. Rev. James Roy Hilburn is the pastor at Elm City Methodist Church. He is married with two children, Jonah and Jacey. On fire for the Lord, Rev. Hilburn has a spirit filled passionate delivery and preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ as written in the Holy Scriptures. He likes to move around when he preaches and engages the congregation. Pastor Hilburn has 32 years in ministry serving in multiple capacities including: youth director, hospice chaplain and of course filling the pulpit on Sunday mornings. He has an associate degree in applied science electrical engineering from Southeastern Community College, a BS degree in Religion from Mount Olive University and his Master’s in Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary.
